FREE Products

Until yesterday, I had no idea that Walmart carried papercrafting products that were absolutely FREE!!!
Lola, Momo, and I went to Walmart yesterday, we got some dog treats, looked at the clearance aisle, and on our way to look at light bulbs we passed by the paint section. I had to stop, all these amazing colors in so many different shades! Sudden flash of inspiration! So, I picked the colors that jumped out at me. And look at the size of those things! Better Homes and Gardens were more than 2 1/2" x 5 1/2", and the Glidden ones were a whopping 3 1/4" x 5"... all the possibilities! Cards, die-cuts, journaling spots, titles, even binding them together to create a mini-album; also, if you got to Home Depot of Lowe's look at the Disney paint samples... shaped like Mickey's head. Some brands are eve coming out with sticky-backed samples to stick right to the wall... a great alternative when self-adhesive paper is so sticking expensive! Go out and get inspired by things you never thought of using!

What a PEAR!

Not a very good picture, but the colors in this card are gorgeous in real life! The ribbon is really the same color green as the pear, and there are rhinestones covering the bottom polka-dots on the turquoise pear. The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and inked with 3 different colors of ink pads (green that matches the pear, tan, and brown), the brown cardstock is actually a dark tan color and was inked with the green and brown ink pads. The journaling sticker is creative imaginations, and the letter stickers are cosmo cricket.

This next project is a little book that I made one of my best friends. She always says that she's not "domesticated" enough, b/c she's not the kind of girl that cooks and cleans. So, I made this handy little domestication instructions manual for her to made note of tips and tricks, recipes, or whatever else she needs to know to be a domesticated woman. Each page has a 3 1/2 x 5 index card for her notes, and they're all slid into a clear 4x6 photo album that I got at dollar tree. The paper is from the Nana's Kitchen stack by Diecuts with a View.

A Crazy Accordian

Since the Crazy-Accordian folded cards seem to be one of the new trends, I had to try my hand at making one. This is where the Martha Stewart scoring/folding board came in really handy! And let me say, I LOVE making this kind of card b/c you can just keep adding and adding all sorts of accents, and you never run out of room!

Gifts of January

So, today is actually Momo's birthday, so these are a couple of things I made her. The first is a journal (she is always writing and/or doodling and loves notebooks). The keys are actually sizzix die-cut keys out of shrinky-dink (which Sharshar and I have been saying that I "Shrunky-dunk" them). The next is a metal AOL CD that I just covered in cardstock. The texture is a cuttlebug folder called swiss dots. Hope you enjoy! Stay inspired!

Stickers are the Source of all Insipration

Took a trip to Hobby Lobby for stickers today (which are 50% off). Came home and have been hard at work ever since (except for the 2 hours of dinner and watching TV with my love). Apparently, the stickers came with a free side of inspiration!

Amazing Things Are Happening

I'm so excited with all the inspiration I've been getting the last couple of days! I think knowing that I have to do something helps me focus on what I want to make. I'm very happy with how these two items turned out. The first one is a simple wood frame from Michael's covered with Ranger distressed crackle paint in "Broken China" blue. The flourished are Bo Bunny chipboard pieces from their Flower Child line and recollections pearl accents. The second is a layout featuring my last blog post, it's my New Year's "Revolution." The winged hearts are Me & My Big Ideas, the letter stickers are Doodlebug, the gem-stone accents are Recollections, I free-handed the clouds, and the paper is all by The Paper Studio. Thanks for looking!

A New Year, a New Blog

This year I'm going to really start working hard on my paper crafting!
  • I'm going to REALLY start using this blog that I created 6 months ago. And my goal is to post at least one time a week! (let's see how long that will last)
  • I'm also going to be posting to my gallery on scrapbook.com
  • I want to set a goal to make something EVERYDAY! Wow, what a standard to live up to! Seriously, though, it shouldn't be that hard to force myself to sit down for a couple of minutes every day to do something I love!
  • I want to submit some stuff to any publication that will take it! My goal is to see my name and one of my creations in print once this year... that shouldn't be too much to ask... but I better get started right away!
  • I want to host something creative and crafty, and I don't really care what it is (another OWH card-making party, a scrapbook get-together, a class, a memory-works party... anything!)
  • Lastly, I'm setting a goal to keep a creative journal, and using it every day. Something I can write in, draw sketches in, paste inspirational pictures in... anything that will help me to keep my creative juices flowing!

So, this will be interesting to see. I really hope that I can keep all of this up for the next 11 1/2 months. Here I come 2011...
