Baby Shower Series: Pulling It All Together

Sorry for the long wait guys. I've been working on a lot in the last couple weeks, pulling together a lot of projects to get ready for a craft show in mid-October,

hanging out with Lola, cleaning and laundry, and all that other fun grown-up stuff.

Anyways, here are some pictures of more of the babyshower stuff. First up is the diaper cake, which contains almost 100 diapers, a hat, 5 receiving blankets, a hooded towel, a bib, and a little toy.

Next is the cake and cupcakes. My very talented Mommy made these (and my little sister helped by rolling the rocks out of fondant.

And lastly, are a couple of the presnts (one is mine and the other is from my grandma, but she let me package it so that I could have it match).

Baby Shower Series: Thank You Cards

Happy Friday guys!

So... Saturday's the big day! I'm trying to hurry around and finish up all the projects I've started for the shower. These are some cards that I've put together to give Samantha to send out as thank you's. You might also notice that I didn't put "thank you" anywhere on the card, that way if she doesn't use all of them then she can use the extras as birthday cards later.

Thanks for looking!

Baby Shower Series: "Guest Book"

I know I said guest 'book'... but this is so much more practical! Everyone at the baby shower can sign it and write nice things, then it can be taken home and hung on the wall to remember everytime it's seen, rather than inside a book, shoved in some drawer or box and forgotten.

This started as just a basic, 12" x12", unfinished wood frame from Hobby Lobby (regular price, $9.99). I painted it bright green, then mapped, sketched, and painted these huge polka-dot. The polka-dots were later topped off with glitter, then the whole thing was covered in a coat of gloss. Then came the banner... canvas cut out with my sizzix pennant die (then cut across the top b/c they were too big), then covered in the same gloss from the rest of the frame (to keep the edges from freying too bad). I used iron on t-shirt letters, added some eyelets, and strung it all on ribbon. Just a tip: I used zots to hold down the banner, but you should probably use a hot glue gun (the canvas wants to curl up, and the medium zots just aren't strong enough to hold down the ends).

The Mess at the End of the Tunnel...

Sooo... I had this sudden realization last night that if my craft room was so bad that I was pulling stuff into the living room to work on... then it was bad! And, man, was it BAD!!!
Goal for the rest of this week: Clean!

And sadly, it's not only the craft room that needs cleaning time... it's the whole apartment! Apparently, there's laundry to be done, dishes to be washed, carpent to be vaccuumed, trash to be taken out, and toilets to be scrubbed.... and an entire craft room to be re-assembled. Wish me luck!

Baby Shower Series: Invitations

One of my sisters-in law had a precious baby boy back in June. His name is Ezekiel, and I'm helping my mother-in-law throw him and his momma a baby shower. Over the next little bit I'll be posting some of the projects I'm working on for this little shin-dig. The theme is frogs and bright colors.

First up are the invitations. All 35 of them.
